My New Open Source Library: SDKit

I have always been a supporter of open-source software. I have open-sourced a few side projects here and there. But after seeing the kind of impact some of my favorite open source libraries in github have made others, I decided to release my own.

SDKit is a collection of useful iOS classes.

You can find complete documentation and source code on the github. At the moment, the collection is mostly UITableViewCell Subclasses I use on a day-to-day basis. I plan to add more classes on a regular basis and encourage everyone to do the same. @SteveDerico me and let me know what you think.

NDP App Development Talk

I recently gave a talk at my Alma Mater, Notre Dame Preparatory High School, about App Development. I took some time to talk about my experiences in college, eBay, and Silicon Valley. Next, I gave a crash course in object orientated programming and Model, View, Controller. Finally, I walked the students through making a simple app. Feel free to download the slide deck below.

New Year’s Resolutions 2012

2011 was a wonderful year and  a lot of great things have happened. That being said, here are my goals for 2012

  • Ship One New App per Month
  • Speak at Least Once per Month
  • Start Beginning iOS Video Series and Release at least once per month
  • Read One Book per month
  • Meet with at least 2 of My Heroes Directly
  • Reach Top 25 in an App Category
  • Run a Marathon
  • Workout Twice a Week
  • Wake up before 9 AM on Weekdays
  • Work on 3 or more Open Source Projects
  • Keep Doing What I Love

I encourage everyone to set goals and make them public. This way you can be held accountable for your actions. Some people may even go as far as blackmailing themselves with a service like aherk.com.
